Le Chateau de Bel Ombre
Restaurant
Renovated mansion house with antique furnishings, old paintings, high ceilings, oak panelled walls and a large veranda. Tables dressed in white linens, crystal glassware and candle lit
Ideal for intimate dinners, Le Chateau, an eighteenth century mansion, has been sympathetically restored to its former glory. The chateau sits away from the hotel in a romantic and picturesque location overlooking French style gardens with fountains, statues, a magnificent Banyan tree and fairy lit oak trees. Stroll around the manicured grounds and admire views stretching from the mountains behind to the turquoise lagoon ahead. Enjoy elegant cuisine in a candlelit, romantic setting. Please be aware, Le Chateau is an adult only restaurant.
Elegant – no shorts, t shirts or flip flops. If you want to dress up – this is the place to do so.
Traditional Mauritian cuisine, with all ingredients sourced from the Domaine. Enjoy local Wild Boar, duck, langoustines, chicken, fresh fish from the lagoon and fresh picked vegetables, herbs and spices. We especially recommend poached king prawn with vadouvan spice, wild boar loin, slow roasted honey duck breast and the fish of the day as you can rest assured it was caught that very morning. Desserts to leave space for include grilled pineapple, chocolate crumble with coconut sorbet and apple tarte tatin. After your meal, enjoy a digestif of local rum.
Ask for a table inside, near the open doors, overlooking the grounds to get the best of both worlds; view over manicured grounds with its fairy lights, fountain and illuminated trees while also enjoying the ambiance of this beautifully restored nineteenth century manor house.
